Government Coup Neutrality U.S.A. Intervention Syria Peace Adib Shishakli

In 1956, John Foster Dulles has proclaimed Syria's Neutrality and it might lead to John overthrowing it if Syria's a neutralist government continued on its bad path. The U.S. formented a coup against syria's neutralist government, which didn't have many assets and the main downfall of Syria was when they didn't accept U.S. aid to encourage the efforts of other nations and did not accept military or economic help from the U.S. A legitimate government ended when a coup proposed to the conservative Michail Bey Ilyan.

The coup came into effect, and these media would pronounce the new government legitimate. Syria's Neutralism was given by the anti-westernism and on the other hand by the manipulated use to eastern bloc to put pressure on western powers to favor the Arabs. America had plans to intervene on this coup early to stop soviet expansion on these weaker countries. Their neutrality attracted America to stop Soviet spread.

Syria did not like the west as much and the westerners cause Syria to be neutralistic. The U.S. and Britain did not like syria becoming neutralistic, but they couldn't do anything about it other than to make a coup in any hope to stop them. Neutralism gave good relationship with other arab states which like Syria, the had an anti-americanism attitude and helped them move on to communism.
